Garden Planting Volunteer Event at Schenley Plaza Thursday, May 14, 2026, 9:00-11:00am We look forward to welcoming you for a morning of volunteering at Schenley Plaza! Thank you for your willingness to volunteer with us and your support of Pittsburgh's parks. Please read the important information below prior to registering for this event. Meeting Location: Schenley Plaza, 4100 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15260 (Google Maps link HERE) **Meet at the tent near the PNC Carousel.** Parking: As this is a busy part of Oakland, please allow extra time to find a parking spot and consider carpooling to the event or taking public transportation or a rideshare. Metered parking is available along Schenley Drive and Schenley Drive Extension, which is the street that directly surrounds the Plaza and leads past the Carnegie Library and up toward Schenley Bridge and Phipps Conservatory. Parking in the center of Schenley Drive directly across from Phipps is reserved for Phipps visitors only, but if you would enjoy a scenic walk (just under a mile / about 15 minutes) to the Plaza, parking is also available on Schenley Drive closer to the Schenley Park Visitors Center (pinned here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/1DU379zrdxk1BNQo9). Restrooms: On site. Work Description: We will meet at the tent at Schenley Plaza and venture out to work sites from there guided by Parks Conservancy staff. We will work in the garden beds around Schenley Plaza planting perennials and performing other gardening tasks. Tools, gloves, and instruction will be provided by PPC staff, so just come ready to work and have fun! Attire: Long pants and sturdy, close-toed shoes are recommended. Please dress for the weather and wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. We also recommend a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen in sunny weather and will have bug spray available, if needed.
