Ecological restoration | Invasive species management

Looking to get your hands dirty? Join us for invasive plant removal and restoration site management at the PPC's largest ecological restoration project to date: the Clayton Hill Deer Exclosures. Thousands of young trees are growing here, throughout two and a half fenced acres, and invasive plants on-site threaten their survival. Please help us steward the next generation of Frick Park's forest!

Meeting Location: Frick Environmental Center, at picnic table next to the Barn public restrooms: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Hw38ZR6i3xqn4rWY6

Parking: Free on-site and on-street parking

Bathrooms: Available on-site

Equipment: Gloves and tools will be provided by the PPC, along with bug spray, sunscreen, and poison ivy removal soap.

Water: Water fountains available at meeting location, but distant from the worksite. Please bring a filled water bottle to stay hydrated.

Attire: Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, long pants (ideally tucked into socks or boots) and long sleeves which offer a good first layer of protection from poison ivy, thorny shrubbery, ticks, and other biting insects. Lighter colored clothing is recommended to help spot ticks. Otherwise, please dress appropriately for the weather.

Accessibility: For more detailed accessibility information about the Frick Environmental Center, please click here.

Note: These programs are popular and fill quickly. There are many people that would like to attend but cannot when the program fills. If you register we strongly hope you will either attend or cancel your registration at least two days in advance.

IMPORTANT: Please click here to read the safety guidelines, Hold Harmless and Release of Liability Waiver.

Please note that a photographer may be on-site to capture photos and video from the program. The photos/video captured may be used to help the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy further promote its mission. Please advise the photographer on-site if you DO NOT want your photo/video taken.
