Please join us for a Development Activities Meeting about the Mellon Park Entrances and Signage Improvement project!

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is kicking off the design and implementation of improvements to existing park entrances and signage at Mellon Park! This project was identified in the Mellon Park Action Plan as a Tier 1 Priority Project, with the goal of improving pedestrian access and connectivity to the park.

The two sides of Mellon Park have very distinct characteristics and uses, including disparate edge conditions and entrances. During the Action Plan engagement process, many park users noted that they were unaware that the two sides of Mellon Park were the same park. Community members also noted a lack of park identification and way finding signage, which also contributed to the perception that the sides of the park were separate spaces.

This project aims to achieve the following goals:

Establish design characteristics and materials palette that are appropriate for use on both sides of the park, respecting history and contemporary uses.
Design and implement improvements to existing park entrances that will provide continuity and consistency for Mellon Park.
Develop and install a comprehensive signage package on both sides of the park that establishes identification of park amenities, wayfinding, and rules and regulations for an improved user experience. Click here to learn more about the project!

Please join us in the evening for an informational, 60-minute meeting, where we will present a brief overview of the project, the preferred plan design, and have a short Q&A session.

We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities or exceptionalities, to engage fully. Please reply with any accommodation requests or suggestions for how we can make this procecss more inclusive.
