The From Slavery to Freedom Garden showcases the plants and vegetables that aided in the survival and liberation of freedom seekers and post emancipation African Americans.

Join PPC Director of Education, James A. Brown, for a tour of the garden as we explore the role that foraging, food and gardens played for African Americans who sought and fought for freedom. Then head inside the Frick Environmental Center for some light garden dishes prepared by Chef Tia of Manna Meals. Chef Tia will give a brief presentation of the dishes and their relationship to the garden. The Tour & Taste will run a little over an hour, ending right when the Freedom Harvest festivities are beginning! The Tour & Taste is free. Limited slots available. Registration is required.

Accessibility: There is just short distance along a flat, paved surface from the garden to the Frick Environmental Center. Some seating will be available during the tour of the garden. Seating will be provided for all guests during the light lunch.
