WHAT IS A PARK PRESCRIPTION?

Park prescription programs encourage people of all ages and abilities to spend time in nature with the mission to improve their mental health and well-being. Whether your goal is to exercise more frequently outside, spend time as a family in nature, or simply take a few breaths of fresh air each day, park prescription programs can lend you the tools and resources to get outside.

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and our partners at UPMC Children?s Hospital and Adagio Health are working together to provide educational resources about park prescriptions and the benefits of connecting with nature.

Visit https://pittsburghparks.org/parks-rx/ to learn more today and stay tuned on social media for more information to come!

LONG WEEKENDS: SPOTLIGHT ON FRICK PARK

Covering almost 650 acres, Pittsburgh?s Frick Park holds the distinction of being the city?s largest historic regional park, as it stretches from the edge of the Point Breeze neighborhood all the way south to the edge of the Monongahela River.

The park was made possible by industrialist Henry Clay Frick?s bequest of 151 acres of property to the city. He died in 1919, and the park bearing his name opened to the public eight years later. Today, nearly a century after first welcoming visitors, Frick Park offers an oasis of green space to city dwellers and travelers alike.

THE GOATS ARE BACK!

The Allegheny Goastscape Goats are back for their final stay on Clayton Hill in Frick Park!

Goats have traditionally been used to manage the growth of invasive plant species, particularly in the forests of the western states that are prone to wildfires, and to manage grazing lands or rights-of-way for utilities companies.

Now through October 10, the goats will continue eating invasive species on Clayton Hill, including Bush Honeysuckle, Oriental Bittersweet, Stiltgrass, and Mile-a-Minute.

Don't miss your chance to stop by and see these hungry helpers!
