CELEBRATE THE HARTZELL MONUMENT

On September 18, join the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy and the Humane Animal Rescue for "The Parks & Pups Party," a special edition of Family Day in Allegheny Commons Park celebrating the completion of the Hartzell Monument restoration.

The Hartzell Monument is one of the City's few memorials to honor a woman. It was placed in the park in 1909 in memory of Annie Hartzell, a Western Pennsylvania Humane Society founder.

"The Parks & Pups Party" will include a balloon artist, face painting, a special treat for attendees, activities from the Humane Animal Rescue, and more!

BECOME A PARK STAR

Park Stars are important on-the-ground advocates for Pittsburgh's wonderful park places. As a non-profit organization, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy has limited resources and staffing to be in every neighborhood and every park. Park Stars are critical to rally the awareness and support needed to ensure that all Pittsburghers have access to vibrant parks.

Park Stars, powered by Duquesne Light Company, are connectors. As a trusted source of information for their friends and neighbors, they have the power to inspire communities to not only care about parks, but to connect them with those who can affect change, such as local officials and politicians. Click the link below to learn more about becoming a Park Star and sign up for a park clean-up!
