Beer at the Bosque Promo_1

JOIN US FOR BREWS AT THE BOSQUE 🍻

In partnership with 11th Hour Brewing Co., the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is hosting a special pop-up beer garden series. Enjoy a custom craft beer while soaking up the sun in the Bosque at Schenley Plaza while supporting your parks.

A portion of the proceeds from the beer garden will benefit the Parks Conservancy and help advance our mission of restoring Pittsburgh’s park system to excellence.

Attendees will enjoy access to an assortment of beers, including 11th Hour Brewing’s limited-edition Schenley Park Brew. Bring your favorite lawn chair, play a larger-than-life lawn game, and relax to the sounds of summer.

Updated Supporter Movie Night

THANK YOU TO OUR SUPPORTERS 🎬

Whether you're a donor, volunteer, or park champion, we're grateful for you! As a token of our appreciation, join us on Friday, August 11, at 6:30 P.M., for our supporter appreciation movie night at Schenley Plaza. You bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket of choice, and we'll provide family-friendly activities, a free ice cream treat from Millie's, and a viewing of the movie "Toy Story" for all to enjoy as a way to say thank you to our supporters for their continued dedication to Pittsburgh's parks.

Please note, to ensure that we have enough ice cream for everyone, registration is required.

P.S. The Porch and various surrounding food kiosks will be open, so make sure to stop by to purchase a tasty treat before movie night!

Bee pollinator

THE PARKS CELEBRATED POLLINATOR WEEK 🐝

The generous support of Giant Eagle allowed us to recognize Pollinator Week in June and celebrate the vital role of pollinators for our planet, our parks, and even the food we eat. Our horticulture and forestry team works hard to ensure that the habitats they maintain in your parks support the crucial benefits of pollinators. This year, the Parks Conservancy is establishing a native pollinator meadow at Bigbee Field in Emerald View Park, which will feature a diverse array of native flowering plants selected for their ability to bolster the pollinator value.

August Wilson Park

VOLUNTEER AT AUGUST WILSON PARK

Did you know the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy offers various "stewardship days" at August Wilson Park? Join restoration gardener Maggie Herrick throughout the summer and help clean and care for this beloved community gathering space!

August Wilson Park (formerly Cliffside Park) is a vibrant neighborhood asset in Pittsburgh's historic Hill District. By the early 2000s, little had changed from its original 1975 design. A too-steep path led park-goers under mature oaks to an exciting, sweeping view of the north side of the city, the Allegheny River, and the Strip District. Existing amenities in the parks were in poor condition, the impressive view was overgrown, and significant drainage issues and broken pavement were all visible signs of overall neglect. After witnessing years of the park's decline and deterioration, residents rallied to preserve this important green space.

NATIONAL CAROUSEL DAY IS JULY 25 🎠

Head over to Schenley Plaza on Tuesday, July 25, and join us for National Carousel Day! This holiday marks the registration of the first patent for a carousel design in 1871 by William Schneider. However, carousels are not exactly a modern phenomenon, as their existence is traced back to 500 A.D. Enjoy free rides on the PNC Carousel and a day filled with family-friendly activities!
